When Did...

On errands with me - Bob and Larry in tow.
When did our little T Rex become the easier child?

Let me preface.

We had our difficult time with T Rex. We pretty much did not sleep for 2 years because he was the super touchy, super sensitive baby. Add to this asthma and allergies. Sleeping through the night...I seriously thought it was a myth that a breastfed baby could sleep more than 6 hours at a time.

Enter Bebe Sister - a completely different story. Sleeping through the night around age 4-6 weeks. She's still a really easy-going child. Lay her down - she takes a 3 hour mid-day nap and 10 hours straight at night. Also, she's not-nearly as busy as T Rex was at that same stage.

Last year I used to leave T Rex at home with his dad and take tiny Bebe Sister on errands with me because I just could not handle his high energy and lack of inhibition.

Lately, there has been a major role reversal among the children. T Rex is becoming our little big guy. He no longer runs into the street in front of cars. I can reason with him. He picks up his toys and even warns me when his little sis has once again climbed onto the table or is running on the couch. And sometimes he can even convince her to eat new foods. (Although, she still eats more than he does and has a better food repertoire.)

It's odd - I cannot pinpoint exactly when this started or where.  But, our little guy is really assuming the role of big brother. The other day I sat down with him and told him he had to stop growing. He replied, "Do I have to stop taking my gummy bears?" (Those are his vitamins. And I always tell him vitamins will help him grow strong.) Gosh I love that kid.

We'll see what the next few months bring. I have heard age three can be just as rough as age two. But, honestly, it's all just terrific to us. I think the two's and three are either terrific or terrible - just depends on how you look at it. But I'd like to just think we've been blessed with two amazing kids.

How similar or different are your kids? Could it be a boy/girl thing, or just different personalities? If you don't have kids or only have one child, what about differences between you and your siblings?

Night and day are my two boys. I am always looking back at when my oldest was this age (the now 3year old) he was so different. I have come to except it but very different personalities and interests.

I can not take either of my children to a store together, one-on-one I am fine, but together they wear me and my husband both out. They seem to tag team the trouble in a store and I really seem to fall apart from it.

He really is becoming quite the little guy, much more aware of things around him and consequences... causality, etc.. Really enjoy watching him grow (sorry, i now you would like to freeze him in time for a while)

I had to stop and take a moment when you said bebe sister sleeps for ten hours a night. (me weeping with envy:) But you know what, the same types of things are happening over here. It might just be the age. Deaglan still has his moments, he's three after all but he is so great with Naveen. He's always yelling out updates if I'm in the kitchen :Mommy, baby's got a piece of paper in his mouth! or Mommy, mommy, I hit the baby by accident! It's very sweet to see. I think like bebe sister, Naveen is going to be the more adventurous eater but lately Deaglan is willling to try more. I think the thought of them being best buddies fills me with the most joy out of all of it! I'm sure you feel the same.

Even my big kids have their moments. They all have their days where they jockey for positions to drive me crazy. Age three can be tough, but I know you'll do fine :)

I only have one boy so I don't know but I do know that kids change and some changes are good and some are...um, not so good. Just as long as they aren't both hard at the same time!!!!

I don't remember my oldest being a problem but that was so long ago and I have mommy memory...lol...but my middle was very stubborn (and still is!) and baby...oh baby...he is the most difficult yet. He was never happy as a baby. He is getting better but I really do have grey hairs. oh I would love to have girl and see if she would be different :)
