Sometimes we get crayons when we are out for dinner. For the past couple of years I've been collecting these crayons. I also picked up a large pack at the thrift store for $0.99 just in case the project was a failure. And actually, the first time, it was. But once we found proper instructions, it was a breeze.
Supplies:
Baking molds (mini muffin pans work too)
Crayons
Remove paper from crayons (run under water - it helps), break into pieces, and place in molds.
T Rex using the crayons to make a rocket to strap onto Buzz Lightyear's back.
Cool and remove from mold.
Then color!
Bebe Sister LOVED watching her brother color - no one makes her laugh like he does.
Clean up was not too bad but I recommend placing water in the empty used mold and putting it back in the oven for a few minutes. Then pour into sink and scrub with a textured rag or sponge.
These crayons were a good size for T Rex's small toddler hands. Plus, it's just more fun to color with fun shaped crayons than regular ones. I'm thinking this will be an excellent Christmas gift for some special kids.

Awesome project! I've been trying to do more arts and crafts with the kids, but the best I come up with is playdough or coloring on the windows. I've got a lack of creativity....so thank you for the inspiration! I still have our Highlights magazine sitting on the counter, awaiting my attempt to make some playdough!

I am so doing this with the Little One! we have a bazillion broken crayons around and this would be perfect!!! And guess what? I had a Lego ice cube mold that would be perfect for this!
What a fun idea! I just bought a couple new boxes of crayons at Walmart for 25 cents a box (I love back to school sales). My little guy would really like those since he tends to just break the small crayons.
oh awesome - now I regret throwing out all those used crayons from old Sunday School classes in years gone by. I will save them from now on!!
