What to Do with the Left Over Candy Corn...

Halloween has come and gone but the candy still lingers...

Well, at least in this house it still does. Particularly the candy corn. T Rex does not like candy - not for lack of offering on our part. And T Rex Dad and I are still going strong on our New Year's resolutions to get and stay healthy and fit. We're getting a bit concerned about the upcoming birthday and holiday season, though. We are really trying to resist temptation.

So what to do with the left over candy corn???

We dumped it all into a bin, filled the bin with some of T Rex's small toys, and while Bebe Sister was napping, we let him go excavating in the candy looking for his toys. He had to use a spoon as his tool only tool.
This occupied him for at least 30-45 minutes. In toddler time - that's like 3-4 hours. It was awesome! Now this doesn't work if your child likes candy corn. But if you happen to have one like we do who refuses, then put that candy to use and take a break while your little one has a great time.

What happened to your left over candy???

(P.S. Thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last posting on Elimination Communication - I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to have so many kind comments. I have the best followers. Thanks again!)

That's interesting that your boy doesn't like candy. Ella doesn't either. She HATES sweets. And not because I haven't offered it to her! She just won't eat it. Candy, cookies, icecream. Nothing.

3-4 hours of toddler time is right! He is so cute playing with the candy like it is his toys.

He really is so cute!

First of all thank goodness there was no candy left over this year because I am weak, weak, weak! With this baby more than ever I am craving sugar!!! Probably because I'm so tired all the time.

Deaglan doesn't like candy much either - he does however like chocolate but usually a chocolate pudding (which really isn't too bad for him) will cure his craving. We didn't let him have much candy at Halloween. I figure if he's not asking for it why give it to him. I just took the candy out and left the toys in his trick or treat bag (from gramma and grampa) and he never asked where the candy was. Little did he know it was in mommy and daddy's tummy:(

Just looking at that candy corn is making me want some. Oh help!

What a cute idea! He looks way into it too!
We had the girls pick out their ten favorite peices of candy to save as a treat in their lunches for two school weeks. They only get one peice a day (which is a lot because I don't really allow much candy in the house.) My oldest saved her left overs for her orthodontist. They buy back her candy. My middle child donated hers to her teacher who uses them in her reward system for kids who want to "buy" candy or small toy items with the "money" they earn for grades/good behavior. Deni donated hers to her dad. He's "supposedly" putting them in the candy jar in his own classroom. He has a wicked sweet tooth and I don't think I want to know just how much junk he consumes when I'm not around!

I should read my stuff before I post. Please forgive my spelling errors. I am wickedly sleep deprived these days!

This is super creative. I cannot believe T Rex doesn't like sweets! I personally don't love candy corn, but... other sweets - can't resist. I am HOPING we can teach our son better habits than I have! :)

Great use of candy corn ... I, of course, would eat it. It was worth is to get those "hours" of peace!
